  1. A part of the beast that keeps saucers away is the stuff we
  2. often call News, or the lies of the day.  It's pretty, and
  3. structured, and sounds like it's righteous, but reality shows
  4. it's contrived and, yes, fatuous.  It dodges the truth in a mix
  5. of thin dreams--distorts with commercials while ignoring
  6. Earth's screams.  The Earth is in peril within and without; we
  7. settle for tabloids--a weather girl's pout.  We're threatened
  8. by asteroids, imperiled with storms, we spin in a bleakness
  9. that can't be the norm! The face of the sun is as warm with
  10. dark spots, but the news is of Monica.
